Anniversary – Recipe below from David Embury’s ‘The Fine Art of Mixing Drinks’ 1951

ANNIVERSARY Also the Manhattan type but with equal parts of gin and cognac in place of the whisky and with 2 dashes of orange bitters to each drink in place of Angostura.

This is essentially the Ampersand cocktail from the 30th of January, only with normal gin instead of old tom gin, and I don’t think it works as well. It seems to be a little lost to time, with almost nothing online about it, aside from one bartender whipping one up on YouTube.

The sweetness from the Old Tom gin really pulls this drink together, without it, and even with the vermouth it’s just too dry.

What this means unfortunately is that as my phone (camera) is still not here so you’re not even getting an image of this one.
