Mountain – Recipe from the ‘Old Waldorf Bar Guide’

 (whiskey glass)

Glass two-thirds full of Cider

One whole Egg

Pepper and Salt to taste

So I’m a firm believer in a problem shared is a problem halved, and we were in need of a bit of a pick me up today, it was the day of the World Cup final, and we had 180 Croatians that needed a small amount of consoling, not that you’d notice, they partied like they won the thing, which is only fair enough considering their country of only 4.3 million people managed to make it to the World Cup final.

I was flipping through when I saw this recipe and decided now was as good a time as any. There were no instructions regarding how to make this drink, no stirring or shaking, so I literally just dumped the whole egg into half a cider, and added salt and pepper. The egg started to cook a little due to the alcohol, but we still had that nice big lumpy thing to down.

I guess if you were to stir this up you might get a mountain of froth on top, which could be the origin of the name, and even though my friend was less than complimentary about it, I truly didn’t mind that much at all, the salt and pepper works surprisingly well, and it’s a good quick way to have a swift bar ‘meal’. I would actually recommend trying this, stir it up, and down in one if your busy behind the bar and hungry, definitely quicker to make and eat that coffee machine scrambled eggs.
