Grand Vin – Recipe from the ‘Old Waldorf Bar Guide’

One-fourth Italian Vermuth

One-fourth French Vermuth

One-half Plymouth Gin

It’s a perfect Martini, or a Queens Cocktail, depending on which you prefer. This is one of about 30 identical martini style drinks, so not worth going not too much.

I did try this with a grapefruit zest which worked very well with the Antica Formula and will definitely be tried again.

I think that in all honesty I prefer a ‘perfect’ martini to a dry martini, I just really like good red vermouth, and any drink lined up in a way which lets you taste it as well as getting a strong flavour from the base spirit has become a winner for me.
