Suburban – Recipe from ‘Old Waldorf Bar Days’

Dash of Orange Bitters

Dash of Angostura Bitters

One-fifth Port Wine

One-fifth Jamaica Rum

Three-fifths Whiskey Frappe

This is a peculiar drink, there’s a lot going on, but an absence of anything too sweet means it doesn’t really taste of anything. The port gets lost under the bourbon, the rum (I used Appleton) just peaks out, but doesn’t really work, it tastes like it needs some lime juice and sugar, or maybe some vermouth. To be honest it’s a bit of a dishwater cocktail, not one I’ll be going back to as it has no endearing qualities despite my love of rum.
